Treatment Foster Care Parents
TFC (Treatment Foster Care)
The treatment foster parents are under the direct supervision of the Treatment Coordinator. They must be licensed by TeamBuilders which is a Child Placement Agency for Foster Care. The treatment foster parents must provide a safe and therapeutic home environment for children that are seriously emotionally disturbed or at risk which is conductive to healthy growth and development. The treatment foster parents are the frontline of the treatment process for children in their care. Treatment foster parents provide services to children in the treatment foster care, family-based shelter care, overnight respite and step down foster care program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completes orientation, initial interview and application and all home study and licensing requirements
- Completes forty (40) hours of pre-service training and twenty-four (24) hours of ongoing annual training in identified areas, including TeamBuilders pre-service requirements and PRIDE training
- CYFD Child Abuse and Neglect Check indicates no prior record
- New Mexico State Police Check indicates no prior record of serious offenses or crimes against children.
- FBI Criminal Records Check indicates no prior record of serious offenses or crimes against children.
- Home Safety Check indicates appropriate and safe environment in which a child can grow developmentally
- Be at least twenty-five (25) years of age.
- Must have temperament, skills, and family make-up to provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children with serious emotional and behavioral disturbances.
Behavior Management Specialist
Program: BMS/Respite
The Behavioral Management Specialist is accountable to the Program Coordinator. Behavioral Management Specialist provides a service offered to families with members with a neurological disorder (NBD) and/or serious emotional disturbance (SED). It is the responsibility of the Behavioral Management Specialist to participate in development and maintenance as it relates to the care and treatment of client. This consists of client supervision, in the Specialist home, client home, community based, and/or in organized activities.
Qualifications:
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- High School or GED Diploma.
- First Aid and CPR training.
- Complete all pre-service training requirements.
- Criminal Records Clearance (local, state, and FBI).
- Valid Drives License and Current Car Insurance.
- Possession of a values base consistent with the philosophy of the Agency.
BMS/Respite Coordinator
BMS/Respite
The BMS/Respite Coordinator oversees and coordinates oversees and coordinates the activities of the Behavior Management Services and Behavioral Respite Programs for assigned catchment area. The BMS/Respite Coordinator is accountable to the BMS/Respite Program Manager and receives clinical supervision from the Clinical Director/Clinical Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services related field and one year experience working with the target population; supervisory experience preferred.
- The ability to consistently establish positive relationships, communicate, and work cooperatively with clients, colleagues, and other professional and/or paraprofessional staff and community members.
- A thorough knowledge and use of community resources.
- An understanding of special problems of children and families impacted by SED, the dynamics of functional behavioral assessment and planning.
Family Services Specialist
Family Services
The Family Services Specialist coordinates and provides services and resources to children/families necessary to promote recovery, rehabilitation and resiliency. The Family Services Specialist is accountable to their respective Family Services Program Coordinator and receives clinical supervision from the Family Services Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Director. The Family Services Specialist works in collaboration with all staff and treatment team members. The Family Services Specialist is responsible for working in partnership with families to conduct intake, assessment, triage, safety planning, care coordination, in-home skills therapeutic activities, crisis intervention services, and Plan of Care development/implementation/evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Bachelor's Degree in human services related field and one year experience with target population preferred; Associates Degree and two years experience with target population; High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three years experience with target population; OR be certified as a Peer/Family Specialist.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently establish positive relationships, and to work effectively and cooperatively with clients, families, colleagues, staff, and community members
Program Therapist

The Program Therapist is supervised by the Clinical Director, but must work in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, and all program managers, coordinators, and staff. The Program Therapist is responsible for psychosocial assessment, consultation, care coordination, crisis intervention services, treatment plan development/monitoring, and conducting individual, group, and/or family therapy for assigned clients. May include office, home-based, or community-based service provision.
Qualifications:
- NM licensed Psychiatrist, Psychologist or Psychologist Associate; Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW), Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN) with a master's in Psychiatric Nursing, Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPC), Licensed Art Therapist (LA T), or Registered/Licensed Mental Health Counselor (R/LMHC).
- Two (2) years experience with SED children and families.
- A thorough knowledge and use of community resources.
- Valid Driver's License and Current Car Insurance.
- Complete all pre-service training requirements.
- Criminal Records Clearance (local, state, and FBI)
- The ability to consistently establish positive relationships, communicate and work cooperatively
with clients, families, colleagues, staff, and community members.
